Southern Swag | Monograms, Pearls & Bows

Happy Friday, loves!

The holidays are right around the corner and the cold weather is officially here. Fall weather is my favorite, but as per usual, Georgia skipped over fall and settled right in to winter. That's okay, though, because that means hot chocolate (with marshmallows, obviously) and cozy sweaters!

In true southern fashion, I layered up in none other than my adorable crewneck monogrammed sweatshirt from Marley Lilly! Keeping in theme with the bow on my shirt, I decided to pair it with pearl accessories and my gold bow bracelet. I can't think of anything more girly than pink, pearls, and bows!

Monogrammed accessories make the perfect Christmas gift for that special girl (or guy!) in your life. If you are new to monograms, Marley Lilly has a Monogram 101 guide that details the many ways to customize your order. They made your Christmas shopping even easier by putting great gift ideas all in one place! (And if someone could send this to my husband nonchalantly mention this to my husband, that'd be great.)

My sweatshirt is super comfy and kept me warm for my day in the city.  I love that it's versatile enough to be dressed up with jeans and pearls or dressed down with leggings and boots.

Fashion Friday | One-of-a-Kind Infinity Scarf

I think scarves make the perfect accessory for fall and winter. Paired with skinny jeans and boots, you pretty much can't go wrong. A great scarf can pull together an entire outfit in such a chic and effortless way.

I love scarves. No really, I love them. I especially love me a good infinity scarf.

A super sweet and talented friend of mine, Jennifer, knows my affinity for scarves and was generous enough to make me one. I don't think it could get any more adorable (I mean seriously, it has gold polka dots!) and it's so snuggly. The coolest part? It's one of a kind.

I've known Jenn for a few years now and her knack for creating things continues to amaze me. From clothes and accessories to home decor, she makes it all. I think a one-of-a-kind scarf is the perfect Christmas gift. (I know - I also can't believe it's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts!)

If you want to contact Jenn to place a custom order, check out her Facebook and Etsy Shop!

Have a great weekend!

Fashion Friday | Black & White Stripes

You know how when you find something that works, you stick with it? Well, for me, that would be stripes. Horizontal stripes. Especially black and white horizontal stripes. The obsession is so real.

I didn't realize I had a problem an obsession with stripes until I worked with children. If any of my coworkers wore stripes the kids would say, "Look Mrs. Lesley, she's dressed like you!

For generations, women have been told to avoid horizontal stripes at all cost, especially those of us on the curvier side. Horizontal stripes make you look fat! There is tons of research out there on whether or not that old adage is true. But you know what? I don't care! This is one of those fashion 'rules' I throw out the window. I wear what makes me happy. And stripes make me happy. Horizontal black and white ones.

This hi-lo top is so dang comfy! It can be paired with jeans or a comfy pair of leggings. One of my favorite color combos is black and brown - especially for fall! I was excited to bust a pair of boots out of my closet, but the weather here in good ol' Georgia is not quite ready for boots. I'll be sporting this outfit with sandals until fall officially sets in.

As I was running errands in this outfit, a random stranger proposed to me. (I told him one husband was enough for me, and he assured me my husband is a lucky man.) I guess those stripes are really working for me! ;)

Fashion Friday | Around the World - New York Fashion Week

I am so excited about today's Fashion Friday! I was asked by Smartling to be a part of their exclusive project celebrating multicultural fashion. Smartling, a translation technology company, celebrates all languages and cultures by helping fashion brands deliver multilingual content to their customers anywhere in the world. What better time for such a celebration than during New York Fashion Week?!

[Check out the end of the post for a way to participate in the celebration and be featured by on my Instagram!]

Celebrating multicultural fashion is about finding ways to incorporate other cultures' fashion trends into your own style. (There is a fine line between high fashion and fraternity toga party.)

I decided to put together two outfits that are inspired by other cultures but still remain true to my style. You guys know I'm all about some basics, so I pieced together some of my favorites with a few accessories that add a hint of cultural influence.

Japanese Inspired

When I think Japanese fashion, I think kimonos (duh!) and bold prints with bright colors. Kimonos are so on trend right now and super easy to find. A black kimono is a perfect addition to any closet because it is so versatile. I paired it with a basic white tank and denim shorts, but you could also opt for a fun printed kimono.

To incorporate a fun print, I went with a bold floral scarf that I tied around the waist to give it more of a traditional kimono feel.

If you don't like the look of the scarf around the waist, you could wear it traditionally around the neck and still have the influence of the gorgeous floral print.

And I couldn't forget a top knot and bright lip to pull the entire look together!

Grecian Inspired

When I think Grecian fashion, I think flowing garments and gold accessories. Instead of a one piece flowing gown, I opted for a basic black maxi skirt and white tank. Remember, the goal is more style and less costume. This gold leaf necklace reminded me of Grecian or Roman crowns a la Julius Caesar- you know what I'm talking about. But instead of a leafed crown, I opted for a trendy floral crown.

I also thought it would be fun to take the gold accessories a step further with these flash tattoos. What do you think? Love them or leave them? I personally love them and think they're a fun way to accessorize!

I'm challenging you to piece together an outfit inspired by another culture but remains true to your personal style!  I will be sharing my favorite look on Instagram next Friday, so be sure to use the hashtag #makeupbyaundi so I can see your outfit!

Fashion Friday | Floral Fun

Happy Friday! Hooray for the weekend!

Words can't express how eager I am for fall to arrive - the leggings, boots, scarves, and snuggly goodness - I can't wait! BUT it's not time to bust out the over-sized sweaters just yet. Summer is still here for a few more weeks, so we better take advantage while we can.

I'm loving the floral trend that's happening now and thankfully will still be around come time for fall. This floral print, however, definitely feels more spring and summer.

After all, nothing screams summer like floral print, pink lips, and wedges.

So throw on some bright lipstick and put on your favorite summer attire. Here's to the last few weeks of sunshine and summertime!

Fashion Friday | Pops of Color

Remember when I told you guys that I'm a jeans and tee kind of gal? Yeah. I wasn't kidding. I'm all about the basics. I do, however, like to throw in pops of color here and there to make things interesting.

I spiced up today's otherwise boring outfit by adding three pops of color. Purple lips are always fun - especially since it's in theme with the Color of the Year! On my lips today is Maybelline's Color Elixir in Vision in Violet.

Another super easy way to add a pop of color is with a statement necklace. While I typically stick with daintier necklaces day to day, I love to pull out my statement pieces every once in a while. I like to buy super affordable pieces at places like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe.

And lastly, it's always fun to add a surprise pop of color in your footwear. I've never really been a shoe girl, but I have a few colorful pairs that I'll pull out of the closet every now and then. These strappy sandals are from Target - where else?! I would show you a close up, but my toes are in desperate need of some attention, so I figured I'd spare you.

That's it! Three simple ways I like to bring in some color to a simple outfit. Easy peasy, right?

Thank you so much for checking out today's post! See my recent fashion posts all in one place by clicking the Fashion Fridays tab at the top of the page.

Have a great weekend!

Fashion Friday | Summer Staples

Hooray for Friday!

I love this week's outfit so much because I think it perfectly embodies my laid back sense of style (I said laid back style - not personality!). And it's great for summertime adventures! I love wearing basics and sprucing them up with different accessories.

I have been all about some gold accessories as of late. I love dainty jewelry - especially midi rings. I try to keep them simple, but I'm usually tempted to wear one on every finger. Just call me Phoebe! (Friends reference, anyone?) The necklace is also simple but adds a care-free element, keeping in theme with the overall look. And those gold disc earrings. Sigh. I just can't get enough.

These shorts have been a great addition to my wardrobe this summer. Their high waist makes them versatile, offering totally different looks depending on what I pair them with. I'm pretty picky about how my shorts fit; the last thing I want is to be tugging at them all day. These are the perfect length and hug all the right places, which is a rare find for me!

I hope you guys enjoy the last few weeks of summer! Soak up the sweet sunshine... while wearing SPF, of course!
