Fresh, Spring Makeup | MakeupByAundi

Happy Spring! The old adage "April showers bring May flowers" is definitely ringing true this year. I am currently typing this while under a tornado watch and I've officially lost count on how many days in a row it's been raining. I'm not one to complain (much) about the weather, but I'm so ready for some sunshine!

I just wanted to share with you guys today my go-to look for spring. It's really fresh and natural, even though I'm using several products.

Pretty & Sweet | Date Night Makeup

Happy (almost) Valentine's Day!

I wanted to create a soft look for a romantic date night, perfect for Valentine's day! I love a good red or hot pink lip, but it's not always the most practical look for date night (especially if you want the night to end in a kiss!). I wanted to keep it sweet and not too over the top - a look that makes me feel pretty. :)

Products used:

MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation - NW20
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer - NW20 (used as concealer & shadow primer)
NARS Laguna Bronzer
Coastal Scents 10 Color Blush Palette
MAC MSF - Soft & Gentle
Tartelette Palette by Tarte (force of nature - crease, best friend - all over lid, heartfelt - liner, super mom - brow bone)
Stila Shadow - Kitten (inner corner)
Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer & Perversion Mascara
Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz - Medium Brown
NYX Control Freak Brow Gel
MAC Lipstick - Blankety
Milani Brilliant Shine Lipgloss - Pink Lady
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I hope you guys love this look as much as I do! I've also mentioned the Tartelette palette on Insta, but I freaking love it. I've been using it non-stop for the past month. Would you be interested in seeing more looks from the palette? Let me know!

'No Makeup' Makeup

Sometimes being a grown-up sucks. Instead of spending my day off vegging on the couch watching (at least) an entire season of Friends, my day off is often spent doing grown-up things. Today it was getting emissions done on my car and spending the afternoon in line at the tag office. Yuck.

I didn't feel like getting dolled up today. Let's face it... I didn't even feel like washing my hair today. So today was a no makeup makeup kind of day. Not the kind of no makeup makeup that requires at least half an hour's worth of effort to look effortless. No, friends, today was a legit no makeup makeup day.

After having a horrible reaction to a new foundation (leaving my skin looking like that of a pubescent teen's), I'm still not quite confident enough to leave the house with no makeup on. So if you also want to trick people into thinking you have perfect skin, this is my super easy routine!

1. Mix a little concealer with your eye cream (a new mind-blowing trick I recently learned from Tati at GlamLifeGuru)

2. Throw on some tinted moisturizer. I've been using Bare Mineral's new Complexion Rescue in shade Vanilla 02. Feel free to apply as many layers as you want if your looking for more coverage.

3. Sweep on a coat (or four if that's your thing) of mascara

4. Apply your favorite lip balm!

Done and done.

Also, check out my Instagram if you're curious which products cleared up my skin!

Talk to you soon!

Back To School | Makeup For Teens

It's hard to believe it's that time of year. Several of you have already begun the new school year and some of you lucky ones still have a few days left of summer break.

I've gotten a few questions lately from teens or parents of teens in regard to what products and techniques are appropriate.

Thankfully I had women in my life to steer me in the right direction during my days of makeup exploration, but I think we all have a picture or two from those days that we look back at and think, "Yikes!" I'm going to narrow down for teens (and parents) what products to look for, all of which can be found at the drugstore so they won't break the bank! You're welcome, Mom and Dad.

I'm writing this with the 12-15 (ish) ages in mind, although all parents are different in determining what and when makeup is appropriate.

Teens, one thing to keep in mind is less is more! Trust me, you'll thank me later on in life.

1. BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer

One thing you should wear with pride is your glowing, youthful skin! I see too many teens wearing heavy foundation and it looks so unnatural. When you see older ladies (even my age) caking on the foundation, we're trying to get your skin, believe it or not. Your skin will change the older you get, so embrace that beautiful face of yours!

If you have normal to dry skin, BB creams or tinted moisturizers are a great option for you because they give a very natural coverage and make your skin look glowy and healthy. You can apply them quickly with your fingers, so you don't need to buy other tools.

If you have oily skin, skip the bb cream and try a powder foundation like this one from NYX. A powder foundation will keep you from looking shiny but will still look natural on your skin. L'Oreal and Maybelline also make good powders that will give you natural coverage.

2. Concealer (only if you absolutely need it!)

I would only recommend concealer if you have acne-prone skin and deal with breakouts on a regular basis. You want to use a cream (not liquid) concealer the same shade as your skintone to conceal blemishes. Apply it ever so lightly with your fingertip to avoid getting too much buildup and looking cakey. If you're worried about it lasting all day, you can use your finger to dab powder on top of the concealer to lock it in to place.

This Essence Match 2 Cover Concealer can be found at Ulta for around $2.50, but I think this is the only shade. If you are much darker, you will need to find another option. I would suggest the L'Oreal concealer sticks (they look like crayons) because they have a great shade range for all skintones.

3. Eyeshadow

When it comes to eye makeup, the biggest mistake I tend to see with young girls is piling on the eyeliner. If I were you, I would avoid eyeliner altogether. It tends to be too dramatic (and we know you don't need anymore drama in your life!) for daytime, especially for school. These Infallible shadows by L'Oreal (I talk in depth about this one here) are a great option because they're fuss free. You can slick some on your lid with your finger and be on your way. Try to avoid colors that are much darker than your skin. Stick with something that's going to look natural and more flattering.

4. Mascara

Mascara is the best way to frame your eyes without eyeliner. When I was in high school, I often wore only mascara and skipped out on everything else. (I liked my sleep... not much has changed.) Choose whatever mascara you like best. I love this one by Jordana (and it happens to be crazy affordable at $2.99!).... you can watch my video on it here!

5. Your favorite lippy!

I would avoid lip products that you constantly have to reapply or lip stains that can often be too drying. You will love these Revlon Lip Butters, because they add the perfect amount of color to the lip and apply basically like a lip balm. I like them because you don't have to be too careful when applying them - you don't even need a mirror!

If you're more of a lip gloss girl, check out these NYX butter glosses. You will love them as much as I do!

I wish you all the best of luck as you begin the new school year!

Matte dark brown shadow
Matte black shadow
Shimmer shadow for inner lid (I used Kitten by Stila)

Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
Ardell Demi Wispies False Lashes
Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown
NARS Laguna Bronzer

Warm Smokey Eye + The Best Drustore Nude Lip

This is one of my favorite looks to do. The warm browns offer the sultriness of the smokey eye but appear much softer than using cooler colors like black or grey. This look will flatter everyone but is especially beautiful on people with blue eyes.
I included the products I used in the video. I am testing a new foundation and will be posting a review soon!

In this video, I paired two drugstore lippies for my all time favorite nude lip. It's a true nude - not pink, brown, or peach - just nude. A nude lip is always hot and this one is even hotter because it doesn't break the bank! ;)

Want to know the names? Watch the video, silly!

I hope you guys enjoy the video.

My Go-To Summer Makeup Routine

Most summer days you can find me without a stitch of makeup on. If I am wearing makeup, it's most likely this look. This really is my go-to look because it's so fresh, simple, and easy. It's literally giving me life.

If you watch my video, you will notice I use my bronzer as my transition shade on my eye. This is a great trick for blending out any eyeshadow, but I love pairing it with the L'Oreal shadow for a warm and glowy, blown out look.

This L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Amber Rush is the perfect shadow for summer! Click here for more of my thoughts on this amazing shadow!

Get Ready With Me | Spring Wedding Makeup

Wedding season is officially here! This tutorial will give you an idea of what I think is the perfect makeup for attending a spring wedding.

Watch my GRWM HERE!

As I mentioned in the video, spring makeup is more about fresh, glowy skin and fun spring-y lips. I focused less on the eyes by washing a simple matte rosy shade all over the lid and placing a hint of shimmer in the center of the lid.

TIP: If you want to feel put together while not drawing much attention to the eyes, skip out on liner and false lashes. Focus more on playing up a fun wash of pink or coral on the cheeks and lips.

Products used:

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Brightener
The Balm Cosmetics blush in Downboy
The Balm Cosmetics highlight in Cindy Lou-Manizer
e.l.f. Cosmetics Eye Primer
Urban Decay Naked 3 Nooner (all over the lid and crease and lower lashline)
Urban Decay Naked 3 Dust (center of the lid)
Urban Decay Naked 3 Strange (browbone)
Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown
e.l.f. Cosmetics Clear Brow Gel
Rimmer Scandaleyes liner in Nude (waterline)
Stila Kitten (inner corners)
Jordana Best Lash Volumizing Extreme Mascara
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids lipstick in Pink Pop
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Kiss Me Coral
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

This has been my go-to lip combo so far this spring. Each product is beautiful worn individually, but when the two are combined, it's magical! ;)

xoxo.
